WordPress Theme Wanted
I begin my search for a new WordPress theme.
This Web site is built and maintained with WordPress blogging software. WordPress uses “themes” to determine the appearance and functionality of the site.
The January 15 to February 17 (crash day) version of MariaLanger.com used a heavily modified version of the Nostalgia theme. I liked the appearance of the theme, but after spending hours fine-tuning it, I began to see its limitations. (For example, I was forced to keep the text of links in the sidebar short so they’d fit in the boxes.) Now that the theme and all my work is gone (via hard disk crash), I have to decide whether to start fresh with the same theme (and redo all that work) or pick a new theme and start from scratch with that.
One thing for sure: I don’t want to use this default theme. It’s too darn vanilla. And it makes the site look like a blog.
You can help me choose a theme. Use Google to search for WordPress themes and let me know the URL of a site offering a theme you like. I’ll go check it out. Who knows? It might become the next theme for MariaLanger.com.
Or maybe I’ll just go back to Nostalgia and rework it again.
Until then, I’ll start reinstalling a few WordPress plug-ins that don’t rely on themes. That’ll help bring the functionality of the site back.
Bear with me as I rebuild the site.
