Technorati Fixed?
After e-mailing the folks at Technorati with a summary of my update problem, it appears to be fixed.
It took a few e-mails, which they never replied to, but the folks at Technorati appear to have fixed my update/ping problem. Technorati now has up-to-date info for my site.
And what’s even more interesting is that the update appears to have shot my site up in their rankings; I’m now 106,000 from the top. (I was 184,000.) 6,000 more points and I’ll actually be able to see the site on the little graph they put in the sidebar. Just the kind of thing a geek like me really likes.
I have to admit that Technorati has its uses. Yesterday, while fiddling around with it, trying to figure out why it wasn’t working, I followed links on a few news stories that were apparently too scandalous for NPR coverage.
Of course, that did waste a good 45 minutes of time. So I’m not sure how that helped me. It certainly didn’t make me any more productive.
Anyway, the problem is fixed and blogging life can go on.

Good on you for getting the techorati stuff fixed. I find it works better now that I’m on my own wordpress than it did when I was on wordpress.com, but it always seems a bit iffy.
Not sure about the graph though. I’m ranked 57268 on Technorati (mostly because of GreenBloggers) because of the number of links I have, but my traffic is very low. I don’t appear in the graph, which is Alexa rankings and I think shows the top 100000 sites in terms of number of hits.
It still isn’t working exactly right. For example, there’s a 19-day gap in my post activity graph and the posts during those days appear to be missing. It’s as if a bunch of data was never added to Technorati. But it does seem to be updating now.
I can’t complain; the service IS free. But as a stats person, it kind of bugs me when statistics are incomplete.
