Righteous: I don't know. I am not concerned with SEO. I'm concerned with providing valuable content. If you can do that, you will be found by search engines.

blogs rank better than websites in search engines? I thought it would be exactly the same.

If I create a blog with static content, wont it be equivalent to a website?

Did you manage to get any information on why blogs rank better in search engines than regular sites? I'm in the process of deciding to do a traditional website or blog, so would like to know - every little helps!

thanks in advance.

A blog is a listing of short articles or posts, usually presented chronologically in reverse sort order, with the most recent entry on the first page. Posts are usually also either categorized, tagged, or both. A blog can be authored by one or more people who have the authority to post to the blog. A forum is a collection of usually very short comments, questions, or articles that are authored by forum members to discuss topics or answer questions. Blogs are more one sided, although commenting does allow reader input. Forums are basically reader-driven. Hope this helps.

Don't expect an e-mail response; your e-mail address does not appear on this blog to protect your privacy.

Thanks for the nice comment. Oddly enough, the article I just posted a few minutes ago talks a little about my blogging theories.

For the record, I don't do anything special to rank highly in Google. I think it's dumb luck. I don't even bother with Technorati tags anymore.

Your comment suggests that you think blogs rank better in search engines than regular sites. Is that true? I'd like to read more about that if you have any references you'd like to share.

Thanks again for the comment.

Interesting take. Here is the one thing that causes me to think that more organizations should blog: Search.

that thing you mentioned at the bottom of the post..fresh content, frequent content that includes the keywords that people are using to find what they are looking for.

You show up towards the top of the Google page because of the bloglike nature of your site. You can call it a blog or you can call it a website, but the structure and the way you manage it is what makes it win on the search engines.

Anyone with a website should copy what you are doing.
