    As a kid growing up in Harlem and New Jersey, I was in a couple of gangs and probably headed in the wrong direction.
    I got involved with Civil Air Patrol which I think turned my life around and got me into aviation.
    I got my student pilot’s license at 16 flying a Piper Cub. Traffic would go faster than me when I encountered any sort of headwind.
    Programs like you mentioned and CAP do a world of good for kids.
