Interesting Links, February 13, 2009

February 13th, 2009 by Maria Langer

Here are a few links I found interesting on February 13, 2009:

  • Rise of the Twitter Scrapers – There's a new kind of spammer in Twitter town. Learn more on PlagiarismToday.
  • Thoughts on Ice and Aviation… – Excellent analysis of what could have happened to Continental Flight 3407 near Buffalo yesterday. By Miles O’Brien. Thanks to @danfrakes and @mhaithaca (and @milesobrien) for tweeting the link.
  • Mindfuck Movies – Interesting list with mini-reviews and clips of 11 movies that mess with your mind. By Matthew Baldwin on The Morning News.
  • 10 Ways Microsoft’s Retail Stores Will Differ From Apple Stores – PC World has a sense of humor. Unfortunately, their readers don't. Thanks to @danfrakes on Twitter for sharing this link.
  • Snap, Crackle, Pot – In this opinion piece, Kathleen Parker discusses the hypocrisy of our drug laws, the fact that people have been arrested because of a photograph of them smoking pot (as if photos can't be modified to lie), and Michael Phelps's loss of a Kellogg's endorsement contract. It's a strange country we live in when a DUI arrest is more acceptable than smoking a little pot at a private party. On WashingtonPost.com.
  • Font Generator – Make Your Own Handwriting Font With Your Fonts – This site offers a free personal font generating tool. You print out their template, fill it in with your handwritten letters, scan it, and upload it back to the site. The site generates your personalized font. Looks interesting; I hope to try it this weekend. Will blog about it if it's any good.
  • 15 Useful Wordpress Tricks to Make Your Theme Even Better – A good article with easy tips for modifying WordPress themes. Some of these are pretty basic, while others are more interesting and advanced. On ForTheLose.org.
