I don't have a ADC membership at the level that includes discounts. I get pre-release system software in my role as an author of Mac OS books; it's handled through the editorial folks with my publisher. I do get a small discount through my publisher's business account. This year, it was enough to cover sales tax. I NEVER install ANY system software on my main production Mac (a 24" iMac these days) until it's in Gold Master release or available in stores. To me, there's no reason to subject myself to the potential problems of beta software when I need to get work done. Call me a coward, but I really don't consider my time in front of the computer "fun." I'm just getting work done and problems just slow me down, keeping me away from the things I like to do better. If you need to buy a new Apple computer every year then you may want to consider purchasing ADC/MDC membership. The ADC membership gives you a hardware discount that usually will cover the cost of the membership depending on what model Apple Computer you buy. I actually spent the past day installing Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro as the primary OS. Some of the utilities I use daily aren't fully compatible yet, nor is my DroboPro, very disappointing. All this work and now I may have to revert back to 10.5.7, ugh. I emailed the DroboPro people and hopefully they will have a solution. Don’t you get a yearly hardware discount?
