Joan: The Grand Canyon South Rim is amazing during a T-storm -- and can be very dangerous. We were there one night when a storm moved in. Got dressed and ran outside into a sheltered area to watch. Loud and scary! In the summertime, T-storms roll through quite regularly as part of the monsoon. They're normally isolated and come and go quick enough not to ruin your day.

Alley: I can imagine them not bolting the building into the canyon wall properly. Glad its fixed. I wonder how many historic buildings the NPS has destroyed as part of their campaign to return things to nature. Imagine all that lost gift shop space!

Dan: I never dreamed it was possible to take such a tour. If I'd know, it would indeed have been on my list.

What luck. I would have really enjoyed that. Being in the right place at the right time. Luck or chance. I don't know. If you had this on your "Bucket List", it's a good one to scratch off.

Wow, talk about a stroke of luck - what a treat! And to think they were actually thinking about destroying that wonderful building years ago. I got to take part in a private tour of the Kolb Studio in 1991 when it was in the midst of a major renovation. The ranger leading us said that at one point, workers discovered that the building well and truly could have slid into the Grand Canyon because it was never "properly" bolted down.... needless to say gasps and gulps were heard all round, but the "problem" has been solved!

Couldn't help wondering what it would be like to be there during a thunderstorm. I love traveling on your wings and the generosity of your sharing.
