Each time I read a new blog, I try to take something away that’s valuable. I particularly enjoy the lay-back style you use. It makes for a very comfortable reading experience.

    Hi Maria,

Your website is GREAT! I love to fly but have not done any for about 20 years. I have a hard time keeping my mind on the reason I looked at your website because of the interesting things you have to say about where you live and your flying. I am presently reviewing your “Creating Spreadsheets and Charts in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 for Windows”.

    Thanks,

Hi Maria! I subscribe to several of your RSS feeds and enjoy your contributions tremendously. I am preparing to set up my own website using WordPress very soon and will certainly refer back to all the valuable information you have so generously made available. We’ll keep you posted! Look us up if you ever make it up North to beautiful Page/Lake Powell (PGA).

Hi there! Just stumbled onto your site during a google for parts 119 and 135 (my commercial checkride’s in two weeks), and I ended up spending the last two hours reading your Flying posts. It’s a great blog you have here, and the first site I’ve come across that relates the so-called “real world” of helicopter ops without the big heads and bitchery of the forums out there.
You’re bookmarked, and as soon as figure out how it works, I’m subscribing, too.
Glad I found you! Keep it up!

I too also stumbled upon your website while doing a google search for 135 regs/ops. I am a young woman, did the whole University double major in Aeronautics,CFI,CFII,MEI and Part 141 Check Pilot to build flight hours and recently moved to CA for job writing aviation educationcourses for a well respected name in aviation education materials/courses. I was feeling a little bummed out about not having continued the rough life of pushing to be a broke pilot. Seeing all that you do inspired me to know that I am more than just flying and can use all my talents with no limits. :)

Hello Maria, and greetings from the West side of Cataract Canyon.

I think I can see the setting sun’s distant glint reflecting off your mesa-top glazing in the Summer from the very top of my piece of dirt, on Cataract’s west slopes.

It is pure joy to encounter your Howard Mesa blog. I’m hungry for region-specific information, and your blog provides.

I’ve lived full-time on Four Hills Ranch’s north-end since April ‘02, and, although I am 6-miles or more away from your eagle’s perch, I’ve since witnessed many of the same degradations that you have.

As a home-owner on the ranch, I am particularIy worried about the current glut of “For Sale” parcels in our area. I realize that it’s just too much to ask from our local realtors that they forego the frequent, reduced commissions they get from “flipping,” and focus instead on helping the market rebound by advising prospective sellers to hold on to their parcels awhile longer. But, hey, a guy can still dream, huh?

Thanks again, Maria, for puttin’ it out there. And know that I’m keeping my eyes peeled now for your cattle-guard-crossing cows on the West side of Hwy64! When you find one that speaks Chinese, will you also let us know? :-)

The best on your new projects in Wickenburg,
    Steve, and my sheepdog, River

Hello, I stumbled on your website after reading random things about helicopters. It’s a rainy day in Talkeetna, Alaska. I met my boyfriend in Arizona, that’s where I’m from, so it was nice to read about “home” on your website. He is a helicopter pilot. After riding motorcycles with him for the winter, I packed up my house, sold my car, quit my job and moved to Alaska to share the summer with him. It is beautiful here and I’m glad I did it. I wish I could see ALL of Alaska NOW before I have to leave the state, which will be soon, we’ll head South for the winter at the end of September. Enjoyed your website. Enjoy the Arizona summer sunshine for me, it’s is cold here for me. LM

    Hi!
After taking a ride with you at Casa Grande, I new you as a pro. Too bad you did not talk about the eating establishments in this berg. None are good.
It is good to see you do what you want in life. Oh, your husband is a good guy. There seems to be a lot of support from him.

    Aloha Maria,

Just downloaded your ebook from our Hawaii State Library System and linked to your books site then to this blog. Your picture and all your accomplishments piqued my interest.

Like the writing style that shares the small stuff in life that makes you so real. I’ll be back.

Maria… I love your website and its flying stories. I’m a blind aviator from the UK, whose spouse, Debbie, flys him around in their Piper Cherokee. I’ve just got a Rotorway 162F and she’s learning to fly rotory now. Please keep the heli adventures coming… Best Wishes.. Andrew x

    Hi Maria,
Love your site. Love to see a woman chopper pilot.
I retired after 25 years flying choppers mainly flying the offshore rigs and heli logging.
In my day (retired in 84) there were very few (maybe 3) women in the business…macho thing I guess.
Email me and we can talk.

    Hi Maria!
I enjoy your blog. I found you after reading one of your “how to” computer books that I checked out from the Wickenburg library. Your examples kept using Wickenburg and that clued me into the fact that you live in my town! So, I looked you up online and the rest is history.
